About Us

Sterling Brown has been in love with pottery for over 25 years. He made his first pot in 1998 at Ben Lomond high school in Ogden, UT. It’s always been his dream to have a studio that others can come and get their hands in clay. Sterling specializes in making large multi-part vases with large forms and making a consistent styled body of work.

John Westenksow taught art and ceramics for 36 years and received the Utah Art Educator Association’s 2017-2018 Middle/Junior School High Teacher of the Year Award.  John was also honored to be included in the 2022 edition of the Dictionary of Utah Fine Artists along with notable Utah artists past and present. He loves being up to his elbows in clay and sharing that joy with others.  He enjoys the tactile and expressive qualities of clay and the way it can magically transform from a lump into a beautiful sculptural or functional piece of art.

Rebecca Barney has been making pots for 20 years and has been teaching for 10 of those years. She loves collecting different varieties of knowledge and techniques in pottery and appreciates how much there is to continuously learn in ceramics. Her favorite aspect about pottery is the community and the passing of knowledge of clay with others. Rebecca specializes in decorative pottery techniques, and delicate throwing styles.

Forrester Lagunas has been making pots for several years. He enjoys the grounding nature of pottery. He wants to share his experience that clay can bring for personal meditation. He considers the form, balance, and function of pottery and is good at teaching the artistic eye when developing pottery skills.

Antra Sinha is a beloved international recognized artist who generously offers time from her busy schedule at USU to offer a hand building class with us each semester. Antra specializes in wood firing techniques for sculptural and abstract pieces that celebrate the nature of earth, water and fire.
